Former South Dakota Oilseed Processors Plant

PLANT SUMMARY: The Former South Dakota Oilseed Processors Plant was completed in December of 2008. The facility is capable of processing 375 tons of soybeans per day, using screw presses for mechanical oil separation. The plant has the capability of processing other oilseeds such as sunflowers (250 tons per day) and canola with very little retrofitting. Beans were supplied to the company from local growers with easy access to good highway and railroad transportation.

AUCTION MANNER OF SALE: Sealed bids will be accepted by Maas Companies until Friday, July 29 at 5 pm. Sealed Bid offers must be received by the deadline and be accompanied by a first nonrefundable deposit of $50,000 along with a fully completed and notarized Bidder Kit. Bids must be delivered via traceable courier to Maas Companies Inc: at 6923 10th Ave. SW, Rochester, MN 55902 (507)285-1444. Deposit monies are payable to First Bank & Trust, Brookings, SD. All bids are subject to Seller’s acceptance. At no time may Bidders revoke their Sealed Bid Offers; deposits will be returned to the non-winning bidder within 7 days. The Sealed Bid Auction process is binding and offers are non-revocable. Buyers should request and thoroughly review all documents prior to submitting a sealed bid offer. South Dakota law imposes sales tax on purchases of machinery, equipment or other personal property at auction sale. Successful bidders will be required to remit with their bid payment, in addition to their purchase price and any applicable buyer’s premium, sales tax in the amount of four percent (4%) of the successful bid. The Plant is located about 6 miles east of Miller, South Dakota along the south side of U.S. Highway 14. Miller is located in Hand County in east central South Dakota at the junction of South Dakota Highway 45 and US Highway 14. The plant site is located approximately 55 miles north of Interstate Highway I-90, a transcontinental east/west expressway running through South Dakota from Sioux Falls to Rapid City. The plant site is situated between the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern (DM&E) Railroad tracks and U.S. Highway 14, with an entrance to the site directly off U.S. Highway 14.

Payment Information

REAL ESTATE: 5% Buyer Premium. Funds are payable to First Bank & Trust. Sealed Bid offers must be received by the deadline and be accompanied by a first nonrefundable deposit of $50,000.

EQUIPMENT: 13% Internet Buyer Premium. Payment due at time of sale. Funds are payable to First Bank & Trust. Acceptable forms of payment are: cash, wire transfer (posting no later than Monday, August 8 at 5 pm) or check with a letter of guarantee. Nothing will be removed until payment has posted. Removal, packaging and transportation costs are the responsibility of buyer.
